What I Offer

  • Hands-on Activities
  • Creating Lesson Plans
  • Encouraging Positive Thinking

At Scribbles & Giggles I provide learning centers that include hands-on activities for children to explore independently or with a peer. These include a science center, sensory bin, math center, reading center, and writing center. I also have larger centers that can be explored as a group such as dramatic play center and block center. I set up each of the centers in a meaningful and intentional way so that children know what to do when they play in that center. The materials in each center are hands on that give them the opportunities to develop cause and effect, imagination, large motor skills and discovery.  While outdoors I plan activities where we can participate as a large group and to promote exploration and discovery. Some of the activities I plan outdoors are using natural materials like sticks and rocks to create art, look for bugs and worms, recognize animals such as squirrels’ rabbits and birds, play I Spy, and go on scavenger hunts.

To customize learning opportunities for Scribbles & Giggles program regarding the children’s social relationships, interests, ideas and skills I use observations and records to guide me into creating lesson plans. I make changes or additions to the program or lesson plans to ensure each child has a learning activity that would be unique to their learning style and interesting to them. I use developmental checklists for a better understanding of where a child is at developmentally. Documentation of each child's learning, work samples, picture observations and developmental checklists are put in a portfolio for each child.

To help children develop a sense of competence and favorable attitude towards learning I show positivity while also encouraging positive thinking.  I think this lets children recognize their strengths and give them that internal dialogue to help them persevere and develop self-confidence to engage and do their best to master skills.
